PRODUCT CARE
Product care guide and tips for all BAAGH leather products:
-
Leather ages elegantly and conveys countless stories; the best way to care for it and maintain it, is with a natural cleanser and conditioner.
-
01 Clean
• Use a soft brush to remove dust particles from the surface of the Baagh leather article.
• Use a mild cleaning solution such as Dettol or even a mild face wash. In a ratio of 1:10 of cleaning solution to water.
• Always do a patch test in a discreet area such as the inside or the bottom of your article. Check how the cleaning solution reacts to your leather.
• Dip a clean cloth into the cleaning solution and gently wipe your article. Avoid rubbing too hard.
• Allow the article to dry naturally once you’ve cleaned all the surfaces.
-
02 Moisturize
• Dab a little bit of the leather cream/conditioner/wax on a clean cloth (preferably microfiber cloth).
• Apply the cream on the base or insides of the article as a patch test.
• Using gentle circular strokes, rub your entire article.
• If you don’t have a leather cream/conditioner/wax, use a mild body lotion or a natural oil such as coconut oil. Always do a patch test. (usage of anything except a dedicated leather cream/conditioner/wax is not advisable, only when there’s a lack of choice)
-
03 Store
• To store your Baagh leather article, ensure you place the article as per its wearable shape or flat out to avoid wrinkles.
• Place your leather article in a cotton cloth/dust bag provided with every purchase. This allows the leather to breathe. (avoid plastic)
• Place it neatly in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. Avoid closed, humid corners.

How to maintain and care for the suede leather articles and parts of it?
Suede is an extremely strong, durable and robust fabric. Suede is created from a thinner layer of hide than conventional leather, making it more flexible but less durable than its thicker counterpart, but with proper care, such as frequent cleaning, moisturising and protection, it should last as long as leather.
-
You can maintain suede by addressing stains quickly and regularly cleaning it with a premade suede cleaner.
After cleaning your suede articles/parts, use a soft cloth or brush to apply a suede conditioner, which will usually be a wax, oil or cream. Apply it in straight motions but in different directions to evenly distribute the conditioner over the article/part.
-
Another problem common with suede is fading. Make sure that you keep your suede away from direct sunlight for extended periods of time.
-
In case the suede article/part gets wet, let that excess moisture air dry before you pick up any kind of soap or suede eraser. Be sure to avoid drying the article/part under direct sunlight or with heat, as that can cause further damage.
-
How to restore your leather dog collar if it gets brittle or dried out ?
If not conditioned, either through the natural oils on your dog when used often or a leather conditioner, leather can eventually dry out, get brittle and even crack. As with most things in life, prevention is better than cure. Keeping your Baagh leather article conditioned two or three times a year (or as needed) will keep it looking and working great. If it does get a little too dried out, don’t worry, you can usually restore it back to normal. We do recommend Saddle Soap, but most any leather conditioner will work, and in an emergency vegetable oil or olive oil will work. Just make sure to test an inconspicuous area first to see if there is any discoloration. Food grade oils may also invite chewing, so we do recommend Saddle Soap and wax based conditioners.

Tips
Not all leathers can be cleaned with liquid solutions or moisturising creams. Always patch test. Grease, oils and ink stains can never be removed from leather.
-
If leather gets wet, absorb as much water as possible with a thick hand towel and then air dry. Avoid using heat sources or hair dryers, as they can cause shrinkage and deformation.
-
Most stains on leather articles can be cleaned with just a washcloth and water.
-
Avoid letting your pet chew on the leather article. It is not made/designed to withstand constant chewing/biting, and it may become damaged quickly.
-
Check the leather article regularly for any signs of wear and tear, replace the article if it is too worn out or damaged.
-
Leather articles should be protected from exposure to direct sunlight and extreme temperatures for an extended period of time, as it can cause damage such as cracking, drying, premature colour fading and loss of flexibility.
-
Avoid contact with oils, chemicals, and abrasive substances, as they can discolour or damage the leather surface. Be cautious when using colognes, perfumes, or hair sprays near your leather goods, as they may also affect the leather.
-
To maintain the suppleness and shine of the leather, periodically apply a leather conditioner or cream recommended for the specific type of leather used in your goods. Follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer of the conditioner.
-
When necessary, consult a professional leather cleaner or repair specialist for more intensive cleaning, stain removal, or repairs. They have the expertise and knowledge to handle leather goods effectively and safely.
